This morning, before the coffee had finished brewing and before I had put my glasses on, I was perusing FaceBook and found a post from Jenny Pavlovic of 8 State Hurricane Kate fame. Jenny said a woodchuck had gotten under her truck and she was asking about the significance of woodchuck.

What a great way to start the day and to incorporate the wisdom of animals in your life! First you notice the animal, and then find out what the animal signifies.

Woodchuck, also known as groundhog, speaks of the following:

Getting to new areas of interest: are you entering a new time of studying, building?

Hibernation: is it time (regardless of the season) to pull back and reflect?

Rebirth: what is it time to let go of?

Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small by Ted Andrews, is a magnificent reference book to have on hand as you are studying and learning about the animals. It helps you to identify and meet your own animal helpers, those animals that will guide you through the everyday of your life. It is also a comprehensive dictionary of more than 100 different animals, birds, reptiles and insects, giving you basic as well as symbolic and historic information on the animal. I highly recommend this book as a fundamental in your own library. True confessions here: My copy is well worn and well loved, but it’s never where I need it. I have been considering getting two more copies…..one for the car and one for the upstairs, leaving my original copy in the office! That way I will always have one on hand when I need it. If only there was a digital copy for my computer…..

That’s because Blue Jay is the animal of the week here at Talk2theAnimals, and Blue Jay is calling for your attention. Blue Jay is related to Crow, so he’s not shy when he wants you to pay attention to him.

Blue Jay connects the Sky, represented by his blue color, the Heavens, represented by the white, and Earth, represented by the black on his feathers. Blue Jay reminds us we are able to connect with Sky, Heaven and Earth if we desire. One way to do this is by integrating spiritual practices in our everyday, mundane, physical world.

Because, like Blue Jay, we can connect to both the spiritual and physical, we need to be aware of not becoming too scattered, but staying focused on what is at hand. We need to be aware when ‘Shiny Object Syndrome’ begins to creep into our lives.

Blue Jay is fearless and has no qualms about harassing and/or driving hawks and owls away. We can call on Blue Jay’s courage when needed.

Questions to ask when Blue Jay appears:

Where am I too scattered/distracted?

What areas would be beneficial for me to explore more deeply?

What fears do I have?

Thank you, Blue Jay, for coming forward and calling out your wisdom. You have much to teach, we have much to learn from you if we only open our senses. For this we are grateful.

Prepare for fun, prepare for a good time, because our buddy Otter is visiting us this week!

Now just look at Otter’s picture…..don’t you already feel a smile coming to your face?

Otter brings joy on all levels, inner, outer, spiritual, physical. While Otter is attentive to all things which ask for his attention, he is not overwhelmed by them, nor does he take them too seriously.

Whether it’s earth or water, Otter feels at home in both elements. Take a minute to playfully look at your environment: do you feel comfortable in more than one element?

Otter helps us to be children, no matter our age. Otter would like us to remember (these are his words): “Remember that you are all children at heart. So many of you humans play at being an adult, meaning you are acting like you think adults should act. Where did that come from? (shaking his head) We otters have lots of fun AND we do what we need to do, as we need to do it. But we do it with a light heart, a light Spirit. What happened to your light Spirit?”

Questions to ask when Otter shows up:

Am I working too hard?

Am I being called to be more creative?

What’s my light Spirit up to these days?

If you’re ready to lighten your burdens, create more freedom in your life, have a good time and discover delight and joy in life, call on Otter. Otter is ready and willing to help you find fun!

Thank you Otter, for your guidance and leadership, we delight in your presence with us! For this and all you are, we are grateful.

Marita asked if I remembered the scene in the doctor’s office with Mrs. Arable talking about the amount of time her daughter Fern spends in the Zuckermans’ barn, just watching and listening to the animals:

“It’s about Fern,” she explained. “Fern spends entirely too much time in the Zuckermans’ barn. It doesn’t seem normal. She sits on a milk stool in a corner of the barn cellar, near the pigpen, and watches animals, hour after hour. She just sits and listens.”

Dr. Dorian leaned back and closed his eyes.

“How enchanting!” he said. “It must be real nice and quiet down there. Homer has some sheep, hasn’t he?”

“Yes,” said Mrs. Arable. “But it all started with that pig we let Fern raise on a bottle. She calls him Wilbur. Homer bought the pig, and ever since it left our place, Fern has been going to her uncle’s to be near it.”

“I’ve been hearing things about that pig,” said Dr. Dorian, opening his eyes. “They say he’s quite a pig.”

“Have you heard about the words that appeared in the spider’s web?” asked Mrs. Arable nervously.

“Yes,” replied the doctor.

“Well, do you understand it?” asked Mrs. Arable.

“Understand what?”

“Do you understand how there could be any writing in a spider’s web?”

“Oh, no,” said Dr. Dorian. “I don’t understand it. But for that matter I don’t understand how a spider learned to spin a web in the first place. When the words appeared, everyone said they were a miracle. But nobody pointed out that the web itself is a miracle.”

“What’s miraculous about a spider’s web?” said Mrs. Arable. “I don’t see why you say a web is a miracle – it’s just a web.”

“Every try to spin one?” asked Dr. Dorian.

Mrs. Arable shifted uneasily in her chair. “No,” she replied. “But I can crochet a doily and I can knit a sock.”

“Sure,” said the doctor. “But somebody taught you, didn’t they?”

“My mother taught me.”

“Well, who taught a spider? A young spider knows how to spin a web without any instructions from anybody. Don’t you regard that as a miracle?”

“I suppose so,” said Mrs. Arable. “I never looked at it that way before. Still, I don’t understand how those words got into the web. I don’t understand it, and I don’t like what I can’t understand.”……

Mrs. Arable fidgeted. “Fern says the animals talk to each other. Dr. Dorian, do you believe animals talk?”

“I never heard one say anything,” he replied. “But that proves nothing. It is quite possible that an animal has spoken civilly to me and that I didn’t catch the remark because I wasn’t paying attention. Children pay better attention than grownups. If Fern says that the animals in Zuckerman’s barn talk, I’m quite ready to believe her. Perhaps if people talked less, animals would talk more. People are incessant talkers – I can give you my word on that.”

We need to remember our pets as we go into summer. Here are some tips to keep in mind to keep your pet healthy and safe during the summer.

Don’t leave your pet in the car. Even if you’re parked in the shade and the windows are open the inside temperature of the care can reach 120 degrees in minutes. Dogs and cats don’t sweat, so they only way they can eliminate heat is through panting and the pads of their feet. Being left in a hot car can cause heat exhaustion, heat stroke, brain damage or even death. Click here to see symptoms of overheating. Leave your pets in the comfort of their home as you do your errands.

Don’t let your pet travel in the back of a truck. This is very dangerous and even unlawful in some states.

Garden safety. Fertilizers, insecticides, some mulch (cocoa bean mulch) and plant food can be lethal if ingested by your pets. Many of our common plants are also poisonous to pets. Click here for a listing provided by the Humane Society of the United States.

Outside activity: Don’t leave your pet outside as they can suffer anything from heat exhaustion to death. When walking your dog, make sure the pavement is not too hot for their feet, you don’t want their feet to be burned. Never leave your pet unsupervised around water, not all dogs are good swimmers. Speaking of water, make sure your pet has plenty of fresh, cool water to drink during the summer months so they don’t become dehydrated.

Holiday safety: Fireworks are not pet friendly. Leave your pets at home if you go to a fireworks celebration.

Keeping these tips in mind will ensure your pet has a wonderfully safe summer!

The majority of the people who come to me to schedule an animal communication session are usually at their wits end. From the person’s perspective, something is going on with the pet that has turned a normally peaceful household into a household of anxiety and worry. Let’s face it: it is not fun living in a household where you feel havoc (for whatever reason) has been unleashed. The pets feel that way too!

Animal communication can can bring mutual relief to your 2 legged and pet family, returning your household to the peace and quiet all of you so much enjoy.

Because the problem most likely did not develop overnight, when practicing animal communication I feel it is wise and beneficial to all to take the time to make sure that animal communication is the tool that will be of most help in your specific situation. Here’s how I work individual consultations:

An individual consultation for a new client is designed with three parts:

Part I: Involves a 20 -30 minute phone consultation. During this time, I gather information about the situation and your pet(s) to determine if an animal communication will be of benefit to all of you. If we determine for any reason animal communication is not the best path for you, or I am not the communicator for you, this time is my gift to you, and I will refer you to others who I think can help you.

Part II: When we decide to move ahead with a communication, the Animal Communication is scheduled and I will have a
conversation with you and your animal(s). This is done either via email, conference call or Google/FaceBook Chat. If you decide to do this via conference call, you will receive an MP3 file of the conversation, usually within 24 hours. If the communication is done via email or Chat, you will have a written transcript of the conversation, allowing you to go back to the conversation whenever needed. While talking with your pet(s), my goal is to see how life is going from their perspective, and get the questions you have for your pet(s) answered. If there are issues that need to be resolved, an action plan is developed.

Part III: Involves a follow-up session. This takes place within 2 weeks of the initial consultation. I will check-in with you to see how things have been going, determine any future needs, and create further action plans if needed.

Talk2theAnimals sends you a courtesy email reminder the day before your appointments.

So animal communication can be as simple as 1-2-3! Want to return to the peace and quiet you used to have in your household? Contact me now to schedule your individual animal communication sessions.

Have you been stumped trying to figure out a situation? Does it seem that no matter which way you look at the situation nothing seems quite right, nothing seems to fit together? Do you feel you’re only seeing a small part of the picture?

It’s now time for you to kick back and relax. You have help. Platypus is the animal helper this week.

Platypus is unique to Australia. He is mostly a fresh-water creature, feeding on underwater grubs, worms, shellfish and carrion. Platypus is usually shy and solitary….we thank you Platypus for coming forth and helping us this week.

With Platypus, we are invited to learn ancient lessons that are rooted deeply within us. “These are the lessons that will help you make the change into your new time, your new era”, he tells us. (Platypus is referring to 2012.) “Without these lessons you will remain stuck in the mud, not able to move. These are lessons of coping, of working together, of co-operation, valuable lessons for the human species.”

“It has taken a lot of courage for me to come out of my solitary existence to help….you need to know that all animals are willing to reach out to you humans and help as we can. We just ask that you take our lessons in the Spirit in which they are sent.”

“My specific lesson for you is to look at the entirety of the picture. Do not look at just one small, very small, part of the picture. Even though the parts of the picture may not appear as if they fit together, they do indeed fit together very well, and they fit together as they do with a purpose, with a created reason.”

“In your history, it has been necessary for your survival that you take in only small parts of the picture. That is no longer true. You can simply look to me for your lesson: you say I have a duck bill, otter feet and a beaver tail, which is very incongruent to your way of thinking. Even though I may look awkward to you, that is certainly not the case for me. Everything works perfectly well in harmony for me.”

“As I have left the comfort of my solitary lifestyle and come forward to help you, it is time you leave the comfort of your partial blindness and move forward into the whole of what is.”

Thank you, Platypus, for having the courage to come forward to help us during this time of change. Thank you for your words of guidance and wisdom, your willingness to be a role model for us. For this we are grateful.

Harmony,

“But what if I don’t do it right?”

That’s a common question I receive from folks new to animal communication. And I have to admit, it makes my teacher-heart go all pitter-patter with glee, as I am tempted to reply, “What do you mean by right?”.

From my perspective, everyone has the ability to Talk2theAnimals. Let me clarify: I mean EVERYONE has the ability to Talk2theAnimals. I don’t look at it as a special gift, I do not believe you have to be ‘psychic’ to Talk2theAnimals. Everyone has the ability to Talk2theAnimals and we can choose to what degree, if at all, we want to use the tool of animal communication.

So, from my teacher-heart perspective, the question is not “But what if I don’t do it right?”, rather the question is “What if I don’t Talk2theAnimals at all?”.
