“But what if I don’t do it right?”

That’s a common question I receive from folks new to animal communication. And I have to admit, it makes my teacher-heart go all pitter-patter with glee, as I am tempted to reply, “What do you mean by right?”.

From my perspective, everyone has the ability to Talk2theAnimals.  Let me clarify: I mean EVERYONE has the ability to Talk2theAnimals. I don’t look at it as a special gift, I do not believe you have to be ‘psychic’ to Talk2theAnimals. Everyone has the ability to Talk2theAnimals and we can choose to what degree, if at all, we want to use the tool of animal communication.

So, from my teacher-heart perspective, the question is not “But what if I don’t do it right?”, rather the question is “What if I don’t Talk2theAnimals at all?”.

Let’s face it – most people consider you more than a little nutso when you say you Talk2theAnimals.  Well, maybe talking is OK, but when you say you hear the animals talking to you, well, let’s just say many people prefer you don’t mention that in polite company.

Welcome to today’s Talk2theAnimals Animal Communication Practice Session.  This is your chance to deepen your relationship with animals and see what messages they have for you.

Before you start talking with today’s animal, prepare yourself by gathering your animal communication journal, a writing stick, and, should you so desire, a beverage.  Set aside 15-20 minutes to have your conversation. Make sure this is a time when you are able to be fully present to the animal and the conversation.  Go to a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. Empty your body and your mind of all the ‘monkey chatter’…..thinking of your to do list, your schedule, etc.  ‘Monkey chatter’ is anything internally that is standing between you and listening to the animal.  It helps me to create an imaginary wastebasket.  When those distracting thoughts come along, I simply put them in the wastebasket, knowing I can pick them up after the conversation, if I want. You are in a safe, quiet location, and only that which is for the highest good for you and the animal will present itself.  You have now created your Circle of Listening.

The animal that volunteered to help us today is Hawk.  Interesting enough, as I am writing this, I hear Hawk outside of my window!

Just like when you meet a new person you introduce yourself, introduce yourself to Hawk.  Ask if Hawk is willing to talk with you, and if so, if this is a good time.  Go with what Hawk says: if you caught Hawk in the middle of hunting, this may not be a good time to talk.  Ask Hawk to connect with you when it is a convenient time.

The following questions are to get you started, feel free to create your own to let the conversation flow!

• What does it feel like to fly?
• Even though humans have no wings, is there a way I can create a similar sensation in my life?
• Are there places in my life that I can learn to fly like you do?
• Do you have an individual message for me?

Once you have finished your conversation, thank Hawk for talking with you.  Take time to note the conversation in your journal and what it was like for you to talk with Hawk.

Most likely, your conversation has not finished here.  Pay attention in the upcoming days to messages from Hawk.  Let Hawk stay in your consciousness.  Are you suddenly seeing Hawk all the time? As you’re reading, does the work ‘hawk’ keep coming up? Are your friends suddenly talking about Hawk?  Pay attention to these experiences AND pay attention to what is going on in your mind/body during these experiences.  This is a way the animals keep the conversation going.

Today we’re talking with humanity’s best friend, Dog.  If you have a dog of your own, you may want to check in with her/him and have a conversation.  Remember to ask Dog if it’s OK to have a conversation, then thank Dog when you’re finished.  Be open to going with the flow in the conversation, just as you would with a person.  These questions are guidelines only, and Dog may have something to share with you that’s not within the confines of the questions.

Questions for Dog:

1. How did dogs get the reputation for being humanity’s best friend?
2. The culture of dogs in the US has changed immensely in the past years – going from animals in the back yard to living the quality life of organic foods, having pet insurance, being dressed up and being carried around in pooch purses.  What are your thoughts about that?
3. What do dogs reflect back to humans about ourselves?
4. What’s a good day like for you?
5. Anything else you’d like to say?

As we learn to Talk2theAnimals, we are also learning about building relationship with a different species.  In some cases, this can help us build bridges towards species that have been maligned by humans, sometimes even throughout our human history.

Today we are connecting with an animal who has received a bad rap since Adam and Eve.  Literally.  Today we are connecting with Snake.

If this is your first time here, welcome! Please read about creating your Circle of Listening.  If you have missed any of the Friday sessions, click here.

Here are some questions to get your conversation started with Snake.  Remember to ask if it’s OK to talk before you start your conversation, then thank Snake afterwards.  Feel free to add your own questions to the list.

1. How do you regard your relationship with humans?
2. Do snakes like to be kept as pets?
3. What is an average day like for you?
4. Is there anything you fear?
5. Do you have a message for me?

What was it like to talk to Snake?  Was it different talking to Snake than it has been when you talked to a different animal?  How did you receive the information – through words, pictures, feelings?  There’s not a right way or a wrong way to receive information.  Different people receive the information in different ways.

Here we are again – it’s Friday and time for the Talk2theAnimals Animal Communication weekly practice session.  I have been receiving great feedback on this.  Thank you for letting me know, and we will continue to do this!

If you are new here, or have not been able to attend each Friday, click here to visit or review previous sessions.

Before we get started, a few reminders on animal communication etiquette:

• Go to a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed
• Quiet your body and your mind. Imagine yourself in a quiet, safe place.
• Only that which has your best interest at heart will be with you in this quiet, safe place
• Whatever comes to you, is exactly what needs to come forth at this point in time. There is no such thing as a wrong answer
• Introduce yourself to the animal and ask if it’s OK to talk with him/her
• Thank the animal when you’re done

Got your animal communication journal ready to take notes? OK, here we go!

Today we’re talking to the Wood Thrush.  Here are some questions to get you started, feel free to continue with the conversation and ask other questions.

1.  What is it like to be a bird?

2.  What is your favorite activity?

3.  Do you get along with squirrels?

4.  What does it feel like to have wings and to be able to fly?

5.  Do you feel awkward when you’re hopping on the ground?

6.  Do you have a message for me specifically, or for humans in general?

7.  Anything else you’d like to say?

Once you have finished your conversation with Wood Thrush, remember to thank him/her.

Now, in your journal, I invite you to take a couple of moments to answer this question:

Am I able to trust the information I received is directly from Wood Thrush? If I am not able to trust that information, what is standing between me and trusting the information?

Leave your comment about conversing with Wood Thrush, or leave a portion of your conversation.  One of the ways we learn animal communication is learning from others.  Your comment just may be a teaching tool for someone else! You may want to come back later in the week and talk with Wood Thrush again.

Today we’re talking with Dolphin.  This is a short video, a little more than a minute.  Consider turning the sound off when you first talk to Dolphin as the background music may influence the conversation. However, the music is beautiful, I invite you to listen to it sometime!

Below are some suggested questions for Dolphin.  Feel free to ask other questions that come to your mind.

Questions for Dolphin:

• What’s the story behind the bubbles?
• What’s it like being in your aquarium?
• Do you mind people watching you all the time?
• Is there a connection between dolphins and music?
• Do you have a message for me?
• Is there anything else you would like to say?

After you have finished your conversation with Dolphin, thank him/her for the time and conversation they shared with you.  Now, leave your comment about how it felt to be in dialogue with another species!  Did anything in particular strike you about your talk with Dolphin?
