Except for three years of my life, I have lived either in Illinois or Minnesota, and those three fantastically exceptional years I spent on Bayou Lafourche in southern Louisiana.

My first job out of college was teaching jr. high orchestra and private string lessons on the bayou.  Bayou Lafourche is located south of New Orleans and just north of the Gulf of Mexico.  Nothing in my entire life had prepared me for living on the bayou with the Cajuns.

The Cajuns are of French Canadian descent and live along the bayous of southern Louisiana.  While I lived there, I experienced them as having close knit relationships with friends and families, and living with a joie de vivre in all they did.  During my stay there, I heard many of the Cajuns refer to themselves as “coonass.”
Fast forward a few decades: I’m in Minnesota and while searching for people to follow on Twitter, I ran across the Twitter account “coonassdotcom.”  This belonged to Jill Guidry on Bayou Lafourche, my old stomping grounds!  Jill and I connected and I am pleased to introduce her to you as a guest blogger.  Jill’s love and passion for all things Cajun and the Louisiana coastline come through in her writing.  Jill has also shared her talent as a photographer with Talk2theAnimals by providing pictures of Pelican and Great Blue Heron for Talk2theAnimals Animal Communication Practice Fridays.  You can connect with Jill at her blog Bayou Child – One Cajun’s Life and on Twitter.

Hello, I’m Jill Guidry and Janet was kind enough to tell y’all about my blog and feature one of the many animals that live here in her Friday practice session.   I was honored to see that she introduced you to Pelican.  Pelican got a powerful spirit and very much a part of life here in Southern Louisiana.  This part of the world is full of hundreds of different animals: gators, nutria, otters, raccoons deer possums, naming only a few of them.  We got hundreds of species of birds here: some live here year round and some return here every year to survive.

Our beloved coastland is being eaten away by damage from hurricanes,  but mostly from coastal erosion.  We are losing our bayous and losing Louisiana.  Experts say an area the size of a football field disappears hourly.  When it goes,  a unique culture and ecosystem will be lost forever.  I’m working, along with others, to stop this from happening.  I have lived out here on the bayou my whole life and my spirit is part of this place.  I would rather die with it then live without it.  The voices of the animals, birds and insects here can be heard like nowhere else in the world.  I thank Janet for this chance to speak for my place and for the Cajun people.  I think sometimes animals make their message known better then people ever could, and I want everything that live here to know I’m listening and if it’s in my power I will never let their voices drown.

In order to live in a place like this we got to live with the animals,  not against them, but we do hunt some of them.  Some of them hunt us.  I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else and I invite you to learn more about the animals here.  Some of them exist nowhere else, they are priceless treasures that we can’t afford to lose.

Many time people come to me as a last ditch effort in solving whatever problem is disturbing the relationship between their pet and themselves.  I often hear, “I don’t know what else to do; I’ve tried everything else, and nothing has seemed to work.  I have nothing to lose by trying animal communication.”  Because people are often at their wit’s end before connecting with an animal communicator, I also hear, “If this doesn’t work, the animal will need to go to the shelter.”

One of my goals as an animal communicator is to educate people that it does not need to get to that point of desperation before action is taken and light is shed on the problem.  Let me share with you one of my favorite stories:

A couple of years ago I received a call from a client, asking me to come over and talk with her dog, a Yorkshire Terrier who weighed about 6 pounds.  We were just coming out of the MN winter season, and the dog simply refused to go potty outside.  As I was talking to the person, she also asked if I would ask the dog not to bark so much.  We were coming into the season where she could open the windows, and the dog had barked so much last year that the neighbor had complained.

I talked to the dog, everything went well, problems were solved.

About 6 months later I got a call from a gentleman, who wanted me to talk to his dogs who were experiencing separation anxiety.  I asked how he had found out about me, and he said from his neighbor – the gal with the Yorkie.  The gentleman went on to tell me that the Yorkie was still alive.  My puzzlement over this statement must have come through, because the gentleman said, “You don’t know what I mean, do you?” and I did have to agree I was baffled.  He went on to say that for the entire summer, he didn’t hear the Yorkie barking so he assumed she was dead.  He went on to say, “Imagine my surprise when I saw the dog out the other night.  I asked the neighbor how she got the dog to stop barking, and she told me that ever since she worked with you the barking had ceased!”

If you are having problems with your pet and nothing seems to solve the problem, try working with an animal communicator.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the difference you will see in your pet’s behavior!

Recently I was participating in the Maverick Marketing Mastermind Group, a twice monthly group hosted by Caroline Melberg.  Participants of this group receive individualized expert marketing advice from Caroline and we are also giving the opportunity to define our goals and create a strategic marketing plan.

During this Mastermind meeting, as I was explaining the benefits of my animal communication services for people and animals, one of the group members, Rebecca Metz of Modern Inconveniences mentioned that she had an experience with her cat and a vet that she would love to share.  We set up a scheduled a time for her to share her story with me, and it’s a powerful story that I want to share with you!  While this is not true of all vets, this is also not an uncommon story.  Thanks Rebecca, for sharing this story with us.

Daisy’s Story

When we first adopted our cat, Daisy, she was so playful and sweet and cuddly.  After about a year and a half she seemed to get more aggressive.   She became even much more so after our son was born.  Daisy was very nice to our baby, but very aggressive towards me and anyone that came to our house.  She sometimes was aggressive towards my husband as well.   Daisy would bite, hiss and scratch anytime we tried to pet her or cuddle with her.  She did not want to lay in our lap anymore.  At first we thought this was a temporary phase, but as time went on I was seriously thinking of trying to find a new home for her as I couldn’t sacrifice the safety of our child.  It was also very frustrating (and embarrassing) when she was aggressive towards guests in our home.  We were known as the people that had a “mean” cat.

I felt horrible because she is a part of our family.  Just because you don’t like the behavior of someone in your family, you can’t really just “find them a new home.”  I felt very helpless in this situation.

I made a point to discuss the behavior at two yearly visits with her veterinarian.  Both times I left feeling even worse because the response was, “This is normal behavior for cats.  Try playing with her more and see if it improves.”  This response was really frustrating for me because I knew this wasn’t her normal self as I had known her to be very sweet before.  Also to play with her more surely meant more aggression from her.  I felt like there was nowhere to turn.

Then I met Janet and heard her speak.  I was very intrigued.  In her introductory speech she talked about some skills we can use with our animals.  I also took a look at her website and found even more skills.  I tried out what I had learned and ever since Daisy has become much more gentle, approachable and snuggly. I can’t wait to see how much better our relationship will be after working with Janet!

Talk2theAnimals TeleParties

We have been having a lot of fun with the Talk2theAnimals TeleParties!  I’m very excited about these TeleParties and I’m looking forward to offering even more of them!

If you’ve never talked with your pets before, Talk2theAnimals TeleParties are a grand way to be introduced to the concept of animal communication.  There are no more than 6 people at a TeleParty.  We start with a very short introduction of what you can expect, we end with hearing what it was like for you to experience hearing a message from your pet, and in between we experience the Wisdom Behind the Whiskers!

It’s very common that people who have not experienced animal communication have no idea where to begin in talking with their pet.  That’s quite OK!  When that happens, I tune into your pet and your pet does the talking.

Talk2theAnimals Teleconference is such a solemn name.  It portends official business, not fun in learning.    So, welcome to Wisdom Behind the Wisdom Forum.  Doesn’t that make sense?  We’re asking the animals to share their wisdom.  No matter the name, it is being held on Wednesday, February 4, 7:00  – 8:00 PM CST.

This forum is structured through Q&A.  You ask the questions, I answer, and as time permits we have discussions. Wisdom Behind the Whiskers is FREE,  your only charge is the cost of the call!

This is the third and final review of the recent Talk2theAnimals TeleConference.  I invite you to go back and read Part I and Part II.   All the questions were fantastic – I’m so glad that people are asking questions about animal communication!

Q:  Can you talk to any animal?

A: Yes, as long as that animal wants and is willing to talk.

Q:  Practice tips to improve accuracy/setting the intent.

A: Setting the intent means setting the stage for a desired outcome.  When working with other sentient beings, my job is not to set their stage, in other words to say what I want the desired outcome to be, but to set the stage so that they feel comfortable expressing what they need to say, how they need to say it and in the time they need to say it.  Therefore, my intent is: “What is needed for the best good of all at this time come through.”

It is important as animal communicators that we receive information as clearly as we can.  It is also important we don’t get caught up in the numbers game of “accurate hits” as this can potentially take the focus away from the animals and bring it on ourselves.  That can be a fine line to walk!

From my perspective, any time, every time, all the time we are in connection with animals, intuitively or not, we are improving our accuracy.  And that is because we are unconsciously connecting our vibrational level with theirs.  Even when we are reading about animals, or looking at pictures of animals or talking to other animal lovers we are fine-tuning our vibrational levels to be more in sync with them.  This fine-tuning recalibrates our system from one of “doing” to one of “being.”

Q: How do I know the information I get is for real and I’m not making it up?

A: Excellent question, one we all have from time to time.  Trust, trust, trust that what you are receiving is what needs to be said and heard at that time!  Think of it this way:  of all the kazillion and seven bits of information that could come to you, why did that particular one come at that particular time?

Q:  Being involved with the on-line communication group and reading over everyone’s conversations with the animals, the answers for the same question are vastly different.  Can you address why this is?  Is it the skill of each person, how the animal feels like answering etc.?

Q:  Please, tell us how you began to accept your ability to talk to the animals?  Do you recall doing it without thinking about it as a child?

A: I began to accept my ability to Talk2theAnimals as an adult when it become much more uncomfortable to continue to ignore it than to accept this natural state of being!  Like millions of others have experienced, this was not encouraged as a child:  “What will the neighbors think?  You’re just imagining it.  Animals don’t talk.  Be real.”
