We’ve covered doggie wear and equine wear – now it’s time to talk about human wear!

In my treasure hunt of gathering items to take to LA, the Buffalo, MN site of the Animal Humane Society gave me three Tshirts to take along. What makes these shirts unique is that they bear the independent logos of the Humane Society for Companion Animals, Greater West Metro Humane Society and the Animal Humane Society, three of the humane societies who merged together to form the new Animal Humane Society.

True confessions. I gotta ‘fess up here. Yes, I went to LA to help the animals; yup, I went to LA to help my business. AND….I went to LA to meet the stars.

Let’s face it – when you say yes to going to LA, you are also, on some level, saying ‘Hot Dog! I might meet a star!’

My sights were set on meeting Johnny Depp. I had read somewhere that he lives in France, so I started calling my horse Frenchie, just in case Mr. Depp needed an animal communicator (with a horse), and hired me (and my horse) to go to France for a consultation.

I didn’t meet Johnny, but I met and talked to a lot of stars. One of the icons of ‘the biz’ is Ernest Borgnine, a man now in his 90s ~ as a matter of fact, he would be celebrating his 91st birthday in January. We had the nicest chat about helping animals and he asked if I would like to have my picture taken with him! He also graciously signed a Tshirt for the Circle of 6 Auction.

I have trained my friends not to call me on Wednesdays at 8PM. I have an important standing engagement at that time: watching Criminal Minds on CBS. Imagine my glee when Joe Mantegna of Criminal Minds visited my table and signed the same Tshirt as Ernest Borgnine had signed!

It was a pleasure meeting and doing a communication for Omarosa and her dog Bishop. Omarosa and I talked at length about animals and how most people want to do what’s best for them. Bishop stole the show, running around, greeting folks and asking to be picked up so he could see the world from an elevated point of view. Omarosa signed the horse blanket that’s being auctioned to help the animals at the Buffalo site of the Animal Humane Society.

My assistant, Aura, also had the opportunity to meet stars and to be photographed with them. Since her two daughters love High School Musical, Aura had her picture taken with KayCee Stroh. KayCee signed a lined doggie coat for the auction.

Calling All Dog Lovers!

One of the fun ventures I experienced in preparing to go to LA was collecting the donated items from various businesses. Wow – Did those businesses ever pull through for the animals! I shipped a 44 lb box filled with generous donations, thanks to the following businesses:

The Celebrity Gift Mart, was also called a give-away, meaning that each vendor gifted each celebrity with their product. I was able to give each celeb a gift certificate for an animal communication session with me, as well as their choice of a leash, collar or doggie clothes. Did you know there’s a lot of dog lovers in LA?

Natasha Olman and Nazanin Boniadi each signed a pink tank top, Hal Sparks and Tuc Watkins both signed leashes with collars, Elle Travis signed a doggie motorcycle scarf with a collar, another scarf and collar was signed by Rodney Peete , a small fur lined dog coat was signed by Marta McGonagle, a larger fur lined coat was autographed by Denyce Lawton.

Ready, Set, BID!

Have you seen the really big ticket item of the auction? And I mean BIG in every way. It’s a horse blanket, donated by Cindy Russell, Reflexologist and horse lover.

The blanket took up a lot of space on the table, but we received 28 legible signatures and 5 ‘mystery’ signatures on it! Lots of horse lovers in LA too. Here’s the list of signatures:

It was a flurry of activity during the 2007 American Music Awards Celebrity Gift Mart. We were guaranteed meeting 30 celebs over the two day period, and there were 60+ celebs who came in the first day!

There were only two of us womaning my table, myself and a family friend, Aura. When the onslaught of celebs began, we were both scampering like squirrels trying to meet everyone, explain the concept of the auction, take pictures, get celeb signatures, make a note of who signed what, write down the celeb names as they were announced, pay attention to the organizational announcements that were made by the Celebrity Gift Mart folks and keep an eye out for our favorite celebs.

Some of the particulars slipped through the cracks.

Returning home, my job was to match celeb pictures and names to the items they signed. Sounds easy, right? Oh, my, hours became days, days became weeks.

I emailed celeb pictures and copies of signatures to my connections, family and music students. Between all of them they identified two celebs.

In a state of desperation, I called my friend Terrie, owner of Terrie O’Dowd Consulting. We set up a time when her teen daughter Tracey could come along to help, estimating the time needed to be a couple of hours.

They were buffaloed also. Lots of time spent at IMDB and Celebrity-Signatures.com. The weeks became a month, and that month was intermingled with the holidays.

Some of the particulars continued to slip through the cracks.

We did what we could, finally identifying all of the celebs and all but two of the signatures.

One of the mystery signatures is on this beautiful doggie dress designed and created by Kim at Eperney. The other is a signature on one of the Tshirts – all we could decipher was the XOXOXO above the signature.

Bid on this beautiful dress so your pampered pooch can be the first on her block to have a dress signed by a mystery celebrity! If you decipher the signature, let me know!

The XOXOXO Tshirt has only one other signature on it – Ken Davitian of ‘Borat’ fame. Place your bid!

Putting together this auction has been similar to the way I like to celebrate my birthday – it goes on and on and I’m always getting surprise packages.

I have learned how people reach out in generosity to help. A case in point: Just as we were wrapping up the auction details and getting everything ready to go, I received a generous offer from Nancy Sundeen at PillowGram.net. She wanted to donate two of her pillows for the auction.

Not being one to say no to either generosity or synchronicity, I gladly accepted Nancy’s offer and set out to find local celebrities to sign her pillows. I decided to start at the top, with Governor ‘Paw’lenty. His office appreciated the offer, but declined on the basis if they do it for one they would need to do it for all.

I continued on my treasure hunt for local celebrity signatures, and ended up with so many willing celebs, I had to call Nancy and ask if she would be willing to donate another pillow!

Are you ready for the local celebs who stepped up to help the animals at the Buffalo site of the Animal Humane Society? This gorgeous ‘I Love My Cat Pillow‘ was signed by some of the on-air personalities at KARE 11 TV: Diana Pierce, Julie Nelson Sven Sundgaard and Pat Evans.

This pillow was signed by Katie K9, Hugo, MN dog trainer and radio talk show host on 107.1 FM. Imagine my delight as I was driving down the road the other afternoon listening to Kati K9′s show when she started talking about the pillow and encouraging her listening audience to check out the auction!

A comfy pillow that says ‘I Love My Dog‘ was signed by Janelle Dixon, President and CEO of the Animal Humane Society. Attention all staff, volunteers and anyone who has ever adopted an animal from the AHS or who is planning to adopt an animal from the AHS, here’s your chance! Go on over and bid on this pillow!!

The auction is still up and running – yeah! For you that means: go bid! U2CanHelptheAnimals! Remember our goal is $60,000 or more for the animals!

One of the items on the auction is the book ‘Angel Horses: Divine Messengers of Hope’ by Allen and Linda Anderson. My horse Shiloh and I are contributing authors to the book.

I took three copies of the book to LA when I attended the 2007 American Music Awards Celebrity Gift Mart, hoping there would be horse lovers to sign the book and the three copies were signed before the first hour had passed!

The first celebrity to sign ‘Angel Horses‘ was Joy Lauren from Desperate Housewives, a horse lover who enjoys going for a ride. She also signed the horse blanket.

Celebrity Valerie Ortiz signed two copies of the book, plus a photograph of Shiloh done by Avalon Photography in Minneapolis, MN.

To encourage your bidding yen, here’s a sampling of my and Shiloh’s story, entitled ‘Thanks to a Special Horse, I’m a Real Investment’. Shiloh’s registered name is Ima Real Investment.

“Did you ever have a childhood dream that you carried into adulthood? I did. I desperately wanted a horse. Not just any horse, but the perfect horse. This horse would allow me to be a bareback rider at the local circus. This horse would be a palomino mare, more beautiful than Trigger, and would love me as much as I loved her.

“As I grew into an adult, I kept adding to my vision. Not only would she be a pale gold color, she would be mellow, between the ages of twelve and fifteen years, and measure 14.3 hands (fifty-nine inches). Adulthood naturally brings with it the wisdom of experience, and when I grew up I realized that my love and respect for horses far exceeded my capabilities as a horsewoman. So I gave up my idea of riding bareback in a circus. By the time I was in my mid-forties, I accepted that what I needed was a babysitter – a horse who did not spook, would take care of me, anticipate my every need, and keep me safe.

Whew, with all the ups and downs of the auction, we are finally up! We received an email from eBay this morning apologizing, yes, apologizing, because they had pulled us down in error the second time. We had complied with all of their new regulations after the initial shut down, and we are ecstatic to hear that the information we originally supplied them was indeed what they needed!

Thank you to all who held the vision for the auction to move forward!

And now, we move forward in confidence and partnership helping the animals of the Buffalo site of the Animal Humane Society by reaching our goal of $60,000.00 or more!

The auction is still down. We are waiting to hear from eBay and their automated help line. Hopefully that will be tomorrow.

I know this is frustrating, as we are so ready to help those animals! But it appears that for right now we are being asked to help the animals in a different way than we had originally anticipated. I’m asking you to help the animals by holding the vision of the auction. Keep holding the vision of $60,000 or more to help the animals. As we all embrace our vision of $60,000 or more for the animals, we will move from trying and hopeful possibilities into the realm of certainty and reality.

While it currently appears that our goal has been thwarted, we can still move forward with confidence that our original goal of $60,000 or more will easily be met!

This is to let you known that eBay has pulled the auction again. We have complied with all of their guidelines, and we don’t understand what the glitch is. We’ll be getting on the phone with e-Bay today to work this out, and will let you know ASAP when it is up again.
