Animal Communication 101

by admin on August 7, 2008

I remember in elementary school we had word problems in math. Something like: Two trains leave their stations at 9:14 AM. One station is in Chicago, the other is in San Fransisco. The one leaving the Chicago station, headed for San Fransisco, is going 197.22 miles per hour, and the one leaving San Fransisco for Chicago is going 214 miles per hour. Where will their paths cross and at what time? (If anyone has the answer, let me know.)

I pose a similar situation to you, only in animal communication.

You are walking down a road to meet a friend for an afternoon stroll. Your friend is coming from the opposite direction, and you have agreed to meet at the big old oak. You both reach the oak at the same time. When you reach the oak, you stop and watch a squirrel scampering on the fence by the tree. The squirrel stops his antics and intently watches you and your friend. Finally the squirrel leaves and you and your friend begin your walk.

As you’re walking, you begin chatting about the squirrel. Your friend says, “That was the oddest experience. I had the feeling the squirrel was talking directly to me and telling me that I need to focus and get ready for the move we’re going to be making next month. It seemed that he was telling me that I’m just running around in circles and not preparing as I need to. Isn’t that the silliest thing you’ve ever heard?” You friend laughs nervously.

Your response? “No way! No way that squirrel was talking to you! I had the feeling he was talking to me and telling me that I’ve done a really good job preparing for Billy’s upcoming birthday party. Oh well, we’re just being silly – squirrels don’t talk!”

Since this is an animal communication blog, it’s understood from the git-go that squirrels talk. But who’s right? You or your friend? Can an animal have two completely different answers for different people?

The answer: both you and your friend heard the squirrel correctly for your situation. Think of it this way: if the squirrel was human and a friend, that friend would speak to each of you regarding your own unique circumstances. That’s what the squirrel did. Squirrel is all about preparation and preparing for the future. The flip side of preparing, is not preparing, so Squirrel is equally disposed to speak on both sides of the topic.

What is the squirrel in the picture saying to you, right now?
