Humpback whale

An adult Humpback Whale is usually between 45-50 feet in length and can weigh up to nearly 80,000 lbs.

Males of the species sing – or communicate – through sound transmitted across vast distances; these songs will usually last up to twenty minutes and it might have a role in mating.

Humpback whales travel thousands of miles every year in their migrations, and are found in all oceans on the planet.

Once endangered, now Least Concern.

When I was in high school, I became fascinated with the humpback whales, and actually had an album of their songs. They were quite haunting and beautiful, and I remember being enchanted by the idea that all these songs were going on beneath the ocean all the time, in some way balancing the chaos of life on land.

Hi billie,
I totally agree with you. Way back when, I had a Judy Collins album & she had a song on there with the song of the whales. I played it so often I warped the record. I am grateful these magnificent creatures are helping humanity.

Best to you & your critters,
Harmony,
Janet
