Animal of the Month: Dragonfly

by admin on April 2, 2009

At the beginning of each year, I do a yearly reading for myself which involves an animal for each month.  That means that each month I am working with the energies of a different animal, a really fun and educational thing to do.

This year I decided to let you in on the fun and to share the animal of the month with you.  This month the animal is Dragonfly.  Past animals of the month are:

What does a little dragonfly have to teach me?  Lots.  Dragonfly is about illusions, shifts, trusting in the Light.  Dragonfly tells me to be aware of illusions.  Am I not seeing what I need to see?  Am I refusing to pay attention to signs that surround me?  Am I weaving illusions around a subject?

Dragonfly is a shapeshifter, going through different stages to reach adulthood.  Am I going through any major transformations?  If so, what do I need to nurture myself during that transforming time?  What new perspectives will this transformation bring?  Conversely, am I resisting changes that would be beneficial to me?  Does my life feel stagnant, indicating a change is needed?

By reminding me to honor, care for and develop my own intuitive abilities, Dragonfly brings me closer to the Light, inviting me be be who I truly am.

That’s a lot from Dragonfly.  Those questions will be with me this month as Dragonfly works with me, teaching me life from his perspective.

Have you had any experiences with Dragonfly?  If so, comment and share them with us!

Harmony,

Janet Roper

My barn is called “Dragonfly Barn” because all the beautiful dragonflies, Kings, Queens and subjects literally follow me while I do chores outside and even try to follow me into my house. The largest ones take turns meeting me at whatever door I walk out and fly with me to the barn and then many more come and they have on many occasions formed a “V” shape formation around where I was working in a stall, they would be in the aisle on the cement. They land on my body and on my fingers. I have been told they are deceased family members and that they hold mythical spiritual gifts but really don’t know much except how I feel when they are around. Maybe you could shed some light on these regular occurrences. I would greatly appreciate understanding them.

Hi Carey,
What a beautiful, magical experience you have described! Go with what your feelings are when they are around. When you’re working with the dragonflies (or any animal), move from your ‘head’ and thinking about everything, to that place of feeling that you have mentioned. Pay attention to any hunches that come up for you, or any sudden knowings that occur. Trust, TRUST what you receive. Thank them for the protection & love they are sending you. If you need to, ask the dragonflies for clarification on what you’re receiving. They are most certainly connecting with you!

Thanks for sharing, and connecting!

Janet

Janet…I loved reading this. The dragonfly is the symbol of our CD “Rice Cakes from the Moon” The first line of the song is “dragonflies hover over moonflowers.”

Synchronicities abound… :) keeks

Hi Kiki,
Thanks for stopping by. Those dragonflies sure are busy working/talking/helping people, either through real life experiences or in images, like on your CD. I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to see dragonflies here in MN!
Harmony,
Janet
