Talk 2 the animals

I am frequently asked if anyone can learn to communicate with animals, and to that I give a resounding yes. Then the next question is usually do you need to be an ‘animal person’ to communicate with animals, to which I give a resounding no.

Now, having said that, let me qualify those answers.

I believe that we are all born with the natural ability to communicate with all creatures. As young children we commune with creatures without even thinking about it. It is not until we get older and the adults around us begin to teach us ~ or even shame us ~ into ignoring or hiding that instinctive part of ourselves that we begin to leave our intuitive self behind.

One of the reasons we abandoned the innate, intuitive part of ourselves is due to The Age of Enlightenment. In the mid-nineteenth century, Reason (and I do mean Reason with a capital R) became the foundation of authority, driving the use of intuition underground.

Just like any other gift or talent, some people will find it more natural to communicate with animals. These people may exhibit some of these qualities:

They were encouraged as children to pay attention to their gut feelings and hunches
They are open and receptive to the idea of communicating with another species
They regularly use their intuition
They tend to be right-brained
They tend to be creative
They tend to be open minded
They tend to think out of the box

People who are more analytical or sequential may find the process of communication more difficult, and may not even be interested in animal communication to begin with.

And there are exceptions to every rule.
