Dog Communicates About the Economy

Caroline over at Small Business Mavericks asked me if any of the animals had said anything to me about the economy.  I answered no, but then I hadn’t thought of asking them, either.  When I asked why she brought that subject up, she replied she had asked her dog Maverick about it and he had an answer for her.  It is with their permission that I am using Maverick’s answer:

“You can’t get all worked up over what “they” say … the media, other people, etc.  You can’t do anything about it any way!  Watch how I play with my tennis balls or my frisbees.  Since you don’t have any sheep (and I am a shepherd, after all), chasing my toys that you throw for me is MY work.  See how focused I am on what I’m doing?  Notice how I never let any distractions deter me from finding my toy and bringing it back to you?  Another dog can come running up to talk to me, and I’ll quickly say hi – but I won’t let him distract me from my task at hand.  Yet, while I’m working, I’m having a blast – because I love what I do.  You love what you do, too – don’t forget to have fun in what you do, but stay focused and remember that you can’t control what other people say, but you can control your attitude about it.  Remember to have a spirit of joy and playfulness and focus on what you DO have – the talents you bring to the table, the places where you can make a difference and help people.”

Isn’t Maverick wise?  Thanks to his and Caroline’s example, I am going to begin talking to the animals about our economy and the state our country is in.  As I have said many times before, “Help is a two way street and it’s time for us to let the animals help us.” It’s time that I listen to my own words!
