Reiki from the Horse’s Mouth

by on June 16, 2009

Last weekend my horse Shiloh was suffering from some back leg issues.  Both of his hinds were really sore, so sore that it hurt to walk.  We thought at first it was coming from the right stifle, but when the barn staff looked at him, they said it was a bad case of thrush.  They ended up wrapping both back legs for support and told me to call the ferrier and have him come out at his earliest opportunity.

I made an appointment with the ferrier for the upcoming Monday. Then I called Reiki Fur Babies and asked if they would be able to do a reiki session on Shiloh. I was thinking this would give him some relief until he saw the ferrier.  Luckily, Reiki Fur Babies was able to reiki Shiloh that day.

Long story short, by the time the ferrier came ~ less than 24 hours after the reiki session, Shiloh’s legs were no longer wrapped and he had been turned out that day with his buddies.  When I led him out of the stall, he was walking 85% normal! The ferrier found little evidence of thrush, and what little he did find was easily cut out.

The mega difference was made by the reiki session!  Reiki FurBabies posted on their blog about this experience.  I asked Ming and Candy if they would like to talk to Shiloh to see how he experienced it.  Here’s what Shiloh said:

ReikiFurBabies: What does the energy feel like?

Shiloh: It’s a golden light that comes down in a triangle form, encompassing my entire body.  I am in the triangle, like being in a cocoon.  I could feel it in my right hip and leg, and then it radiated all the way up to my poll! It felt very good there at the poll, a nice pricking sensation.

RFB: How did you know we visited you?

S: I’m not silly! I knew you were there!! You humans can be so ignorant sometimes *sigh*.  I am a teacher, and we horses are so much more intuitive than you humans usually are. I knew, and all the horses in the barn knew you were there.

RFB: Do you horses just know what happened or do you talk about it.

S:  We just know, like I said we are highly intuitive and sensitive creatures.  All the horses felt the energy; even though I was encased in it, it radiated out to the rest of the barn.  We horses recognize and respect good energy.

I’ve gotten this energy from other horses before, but never from a human creature.  Now I know what it is called.  ‘Reiki’ is a good word.  What is California? I don’t think it’s close to my barn.  The energy came from California, went up and bounced off a star, and then came down to me.  That’s the triangle.

RFB: Would you like another session?

S:  Yes, this time on the right side of my neck, up into my jaw.  Don’t for the left side of my neck, and still work on my legs………..Don’t forget my tail, either.

As if the above is not interesting enough, some of the reiki energy radiated to me at my home, which is about 24 miles away from the barn.  I felt very calm and relaxed.  When I tuned into Shiloh to ask him how things went, he was yawning, which started me yawning.  I did not realize that the reiki would benefit me too!

For more information on reiki, check out Reiki FurBabies site.  I highly recommend them!  They also have a fanpage on FaceBook and they twitter as @reikifurbabies.

Shiloh & Janet Roper

Thanks Janet for the wonderful post! It surely was an honor to Reiki Shiloh. He continues to teach us. He surely is a great teacher. What a wonderful friend you have. As I read the transcript again here it was again so humbling to hear him talk about his experience. I’m so glad that Shiloh is YOUR horse so we all could hear what his thoughts are!

It is so great to here from a recipient. Both my pet and I have rec’d Reiki and I believe that it has been a tremendous help to both of us and we will continue to receive it. There is nothing like a good testimonial from “the horses mouth” excuse my pun. But please take it for the truth and anyone out there in doubt, give it one try and you will be glad you did.

That’s an amazing story. You have a gift too!

Hi Arlene,
Yes indeed, when in doubt go to the horse’s mouth – especially if that horse is Shiloh. He is rarely shy for words.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.

Hi Ming,
Thanks to you and Candy for working on the boy. He enjoyed it so much, I may need to add reiki as a reoccurring item in his budget!

Janet

Hi, Janet,

I got here from Twitter and love the testimonial from Shiloh, especially the way he just asks, specifically, for what he needs (many of us can learn from this). Now I’m inspired to read your entire blog, having included it in my favorites. I am a budding communicator but I need to stop second -uessing my own intuition. Working on it, knowing I will find inspiration and lessons here.
Thanks,
Amirh

This is a great post Janet! You really do have a gift of being able to communicate with animals..something that I would like to develop more. As a person who also does Reiki, I have experienced some great results over the years as well. but long before that..as a child I did this without even knowing, working on my own pets.

I am so glad you have been doing some work together with Reiki Fur Babies. What a wonderful way to help our animal friends!
Keep up the great work and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Hey Cher,
Good seeing you here! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Thanks for your kind words, we all have the very natural ability to Talk2theAnimals.

Interesting comment you made about how as a child you did this naturally. Children do this so naturally until (most of them) are told not to do so. I am delighted to witness so many people reclaim this long-forgotten ability as adults!

The Reiki and animal communication work beautifully together. I’m looking forward to more reiki/ac sessions and discovering just how close the link is.

Keep up your great work, will talk soon!
Hugs & Harmony,
Janet

Hello Amirh,
I am glad you stopped by to visit and left your comment! Thank you for your kind words.

Shiloh is usually not shy about saying what is on his mind. He does it with honesty and the intent to let others learn from his words, should they be willing.

Second guessing ourselves when it comes to our intuition is an easy habit in which to fall. It helps me to ask myself that out of all the kabillion-jillon thoughts in the world, why did that particular one come to me at that particular time?

Each Friday Talk2theAnimals holds an animal communication practice session. I invite you to join us!

Janet

So glad Shiloh is better and you both got benefits from the Reiki!

Now Shiloh will be asking for more!

Thanks billie,
Shiloh is doing so well he managed to take his stall door off the hinges…..again. Wonder if the Reiki is turning him into Super Horse?

Thanks for stopping by!

Janet

Ming July 5, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Super Horse? WOW!! You haven’t told us about this? You see what I mean that I come back and want to read again what Shiloh has to say about his first Reiki session?

Ming :)

Hey Ming,
Yup, Shiloh is a Super Horse, all you need to do is ask the boy. ;-)

Janet
