Dewey Readmore Books, the orange-striped tabby who author Vicki Myron found in the library return box, changes the small town of Spencer, Iowa. Dewey not only inspires international tourists to come to the town during their tough economic times, but he helps Myron get through her own tough times, including welfare and an alcoholic husband.
