I just returned from my monthly visit with the horses over at Wisdom Horse Coaching in Hudson, WI. In previous posts you have read how the horses have helped me explore different issues and come to some type of resolution.  Sometimes I feel like the Wisdom Horse Coaching herd is working me in the round pen of life!

But this session started off with Zion, the big, black, playful dog.  Zion is a master at finding toys in the field and wanting to play with them.  This time he found a yellow plastic something-or-other and dropped it directly on my foot.  “I’m here! Don’t forget about me!  Throw my toy for me and I’ll show you how fast I can bring it back. I can play this game for hours!”  I fell into Zion’s trap & unconsciously tossed the toy as I was talking to Lynn, the coach.

Back came Zion, dropping his treasure on my foot.  I caught on to his shenanigans and wised up.  I authoritatively told him to go away, Lynn and I had work to do.  Mindlessly I tossed the toy.

As Zion dropped the toy on my foot AGAIN, the first lightbulb of the session went off: I was giving Zion double messages.  I told him to go, yet I tossed his toy which guaranteed his return.  While my physical body went through the motions of telling him to go, my energetic body was not engaged in the action.

OK, lesson number one complete.  On to the horses.

One of the issues Lynn and I discussed was the balance between being and doing, especially as it applies to growing my business.  I tend to do, not be ~ that’s an understatement ~ so we called on the horses for help.  I also asked the horses for help in discerning when to stay in place, when to move forward.

Tula was standing in the shed.  I felt drawn to her, but I stayed where I was, enjoying the cold, the wind and the sun.  Lynn finally asked me if I was drawn to Tula why I was stationary?  Would it be OK to experiment with moving toward her?  If I didn’t like it I could always come back.

I moved toward Tula, and she reached out in greeting.  After I greeted her, I returned to where Lynn was standing to discuss my admirable progress.  Lynn’s response?  “If you’re attracted to Tula, why are you here with me?”

I trekked back to the shed and Tula.

My goal was to be with Tula.  Simply be.  No doing, no action, no talking.  Simply be.

Well, that was difficult!  I caught myself numerous times starting to do something.  When I caught myself, I brought myself back to being with Tula.

As I settled down and began to be with Tula, an interesting occurrence took place.  Dan, the president of the herd, came in, moved Tula, claimed her spot, cocked his hind foot and stood by me.

I now was able to be with Dan.

Soon Dan pinned his ears and swung his head to the right.  Coal had come into the shed and stood on my right.

Shortly thereafter, both Dan and Coal pinned their ears and claimed their spaces as Dove came into the shed.  Dove honored their message and claimed her spot directly behind me.  I was able to be, simply be, with the four horses.

Another horse came into the shed, and I was simply being with five horses.

I found it thought provoking that by simply ‘doing nothing,’ yet beginning to be with one horse, I was eventually surrounded by five horses.  I also found it very interesting that the horses totally ignored Lynn and and gravitated towards me.

I guess it can be said that the horses came into the shed simply to get out of the wind, but it wasn’t that windy.  A more complete truth is that I stepped toward what attracted me, did nothing more than be with my attraction, and my attraction multiplied of its own accord.

I like that.  Stepping toward my attraction and letting it multiply of its own accord feels very organic and healthy to me.

I invite you to step toward your attraction and simply be with it.  Observe what happens as you gift yourself the freedom to simply be. Let us know what happens as you ‘be’ that!

Thank you Horses, for your guidance, wisdom, spirit and support.  For this I am grateful.

Harmony,

Janet Roper
