Burros

Ugh.  Double ugh.  I am at my laptop, trying to write some blog posts so I can send them to my assistant in some sort of timely manner.  This is what I came up with:

I’m a teacher, for pity’s sake!  I never have problems talking or writing!  Why can’t I come up with something?  Darn, still:

OK; breathe Janet, all you have to do is breathe.  Something will come to you.

Drat.  Nothing’s coming.

Maybe I can get some ideas if I check out Twitter!

Nothing.  But I twittered away some time.  At least when I posted tweets I LOOKED like I was writing a blog post.

Hmmm, maybe I should check out some other social media stuff…I know!  I’ll see what’s going on with the folks on my blogroll!

I came to the 7MSN blog where Linda posts regularly and quite beautifully.  (Harrumph.  I’ll bet she’s never had writer’s block!)

Linda didn’t let me down.  There were the cutest pictures of her burros napping and sunning themselves!

Suddenly it came to me ~ not from the animals, because I wasn’t linked in to them, but from the pictures of those beautiful creatures:

Why am I pushing myself?  Why am I sitting here S U F F E R I N G, trying to force something when nothing is happening?  If I continue to sit here and try to write while I’m feeling this miserable, why, that post would not be organic to me!  What’s wrong with stopping, refreshing myself, and coming back when I’m revitalized and reinvigorated?

Have you ever experienced similar thoughts?  Too many times in my life I have tried to force something into being when it wasn’t yet ready to be.  Instead of allowing an organic, life giving creation to blossom forth, I have pinched off the very life of whatever it was I was trying to create.

New times call for new ways.  I am going to follow the sage advice the burros are showing me in the pictures, take a break, and come back when I’m feeling refreshed!

HEY!  Wait a minute – I think the above may actually be a blog post!

Harmony,

Janet Roper
