The Case of the Disappearing Cat

by Janet on February 16, 2012

Has this ever happened to you? You have a vet appointment for your cat and she is NO WHERE to be found.

Your cat has magically disappeared - apparently into thin air.

Can animal communication help with the 'case of the disappearing cat'? It can indeed. Communicating with your cat exactly what is going on and why it is happening will often begin to put the cat more at ease about the entire experience. The earlier you start telling her about the appointment and the more frequently you talk with her about the appointment, the easier it will be for all involved.

Here are some tips that may minimize the risk of your cat doing her disappearing act:

  • Explain what’s going on either verbally or mentally to your cat, whichever way feels more comfortable to you.  She will pick up on it.
  • Stay calm and focused when talking to the cat.  Image the cat calmly waiting in their favorite spot.
  • Be up front with your cat about the appointment.  Even before you make the call, tell the cat what you will be doing, why you are making the appointment.  Is it for a yearly checkup? Tell the cat.  Is it because your cat has allergies?  Focus on the point the vet intends to ease their discomfit, wants to help them feel more comfortable.
  • The vet is most probably not your cat’s favorite place to go.  Acknowledge this.  Do not try to ‘sweet-coat’ the trip.  Animals are very tuned into us and are aware when our words are not congruent with our feelings.
  • If you find yourself in the position of running late, let your cat know you are running late.  Ask for her help in getting back on time by being in their favorite place when you get home, ready to go.

By calming yourself and imaging the projected outcome to your cat, you will in time find your cat becomes calmer, ready to help you any way she can.  The case of the disappearing cat is solved, and you have a cat who is willing to show herself and be with you!

Cats and Mysteries
