A strong, majestic creature has proudly stepped forward to lead us on our journey this week. Elk is one of the largest mammals in North America and one of the largest species of deer in the world. When Elk appeared, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the advertising slogan: “When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen.” So it is with Elk.

Elk radiates stamina, strength and nobility. Pacing ourselves is a very important aspect of life, and one that is mostly forgotten in our society. Elk’s appearance reminds us that while we may not be the first to reach a destination, we will reach it and will do so with plenty of energy remaining. Consistency and steadiness is what counts.

Usually staying in herds of their own gender, Elk reminds us that we don’t have to do things ourselves, there is someone/something who is willing to help us. We just need to be able to ask for the help.

To sustain our energy and pace ourselves, Elk prompts us to eat energy foods and take proper care of ourselves.

Questions to ask when Elk appears:

Have I been too solitary?

Is my diet what my body requires?

Do I require extra strength or stamina for a project?

Thank you Elk, for coming forth and guiding us today. Your lessons are important, and not ones that we always hear in our culture. For your guidance and leadership, your willingness to share, we are grateful.

Harmony,

The beginning of school is just right around the corner. Kids are off for a new year, and some kids are leaving for college for the first time. While you, and maybe even the kids, may be looking forward to school starting, what about your pet?

Fido and Fluffy are used to having their human siblings around and interacting with them on a regular basis. With the kids off to school, this revised routine can leave them feeling confused and lonely. If your child is going to school for the first time, or leaving for college for the first time, this enormous change in routine may even cause stress in your pets. Some signs of stress:

Does your pet look dejected?

Has s/he become clingy?

Is your pet venting by chewing or not using the litterbox?

Talk2theAnimals can help you help your pets through this transition time. Schedule a heartfelt conversation with your pets, explain what’s going on and see how they are experiencing it from their point of view. A conversation like this can bring mutual relief to all involved, and can help your pet move through this life change in a more comfortable way.

Between now and Friday, September 17, 2010, T2TA is offering 15% off all individual animal communications.

To take advantage of this special offer, contact Jodi at Talk2theAnimals. Make life easier for your pet and include her/her in this transition. This will give you and your family peace of mind, and your pets will thank you for it!

Camel has come forward to be our guide and teacher this week. Interestingly enough, while I usually write these posts in the AM, none of the animals volunteered to come forth as the Talk2theAnimals Animal of the Week. It was not until just a few minutes ago that Camel came forward in his own time, in his own way, to act as our teacher this week.

By doing this, Camel has already invited me to look at other areas where I may be trying to push or force an outcome.

Camel teaches us tenacity and perseverance, which is very different from forcing or pushing. It was not until I took a break and left my house that Camel came forward.

For those of us who are willing to listen, Camel teaches us we have more energy and resilience for the job ahead than we may think we have. Trust our own guidance and instinct by paying close attention to our senses and what we are experiencing, not what someone else tells us we should experience.

We have the supplies and fortitude that is needed for the journey ahead. Yes, we need to use them wisely, but we will not lack.

Questions to ask when Camel appears:

Do I need to stop and replenish myself and my supplies?

Do I need an extra dose of strength to continue?

Am I trusting my own guidance?

Thank you Camel, for coming forth and sharing your lessons and guidance with us. For this we are grateful.

Harmony,

The unspoken question is actually: Will you tune into me without my knowing it while you are tuned into my pets?

That is an excellent question and I find when a person asks that, it generally comes from a place of self-protection.

Most assuredly, I do not tune into the people when I am in conversation with their pets. While I can tune into people, that is not my focus. In my opinion, that would be a flagrant breech of ethics on my part. I choose to use my skills to Talk2theAnimals, so when a person asks me to do a reading for them, I refer them on to an intuitive whose speciality is working with people.

Having said that, there are times when a pet will tell me something about their person. A recent example: a woman was going through a difficult situation. Her dog told me he was concerned about mom, and all the energy she was expending in worrying, pacing and in general being very physically tense. He wanted her to know that all that energy was wasted and it was not helping her. I relayed this to his mom and her response was ‘how did you know that?!!”. I explained that this was her dog’s perception, what life was like through his eyes.

I have discovered that there are times in communications our pets will convey information about their humans out of love and concern for what their humans are experiencing. Rest assured this information comes directly from their mouths!

In listening to their wisdom, Kat discovered the world of meditation and learning to be. Kat’s story is filled with humor and tears, as well as a world of cat-wisdom that is open to those of us who are willing to listen.

“Before you make a choice you cannot undo,” says Poohbear Decagoonacoon, “you need to understand the nature of your own mind. Whether you are a human or a cat, the same technique applies. You must learn to sit and meditate. And I happen to know more than a little bit about this,” he observed, making a point of sitting down and tucking both paws under his chest in his Buddha pose.

You will be able to hear Kat tell her own story tomorrow, 8/19 at 1PM CST on Talk2theAnimalsRadio. If you are unable to tune in live, the show will be available for download at Talk2theAnimalsRadio under ‘on demand episodes’ or from iTunes. Tune in, read the book, learn to ‘just be’……Let Poohbear guide you!

What makes us think that we can not Talk2theAnimals?

Old baggage, old perpetuated misinformation that animals can’t talk, denying our own experiences.

It’s time to set all of that aside and to observe and participate in what we experience, not what others say is truth. Because it is their truth, not our own, individual, unique truth. It is time we live our own truth.

So how do we do that? After all, it is difficult going against the grain of society.

First of all, call on Salmon to help. Who better to reach out to for help when discouragement is involved, or perseverance is needed? Simply learning more about Salmon (or any animal) is a good way to call out for help; this is as starting out at Wikipedia.

Next, trust, trust, TRUST! your own perceptions and experiences. Your experiences are your reality.

As you become more aware of your own experiences, you will find it easier to Talk2theAnimals. Animals live in the present, in complete awareness. As we hone our own awareness skills, we will discover how natural it is to Talk2theAnimals!

Such a great helper has hopped forth this week. Frog is here to share his lessons with us about transformation through water and sound, also about fertility and new beginnings. In the book Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small, author Ted Andrews refers to them as The Ancients, meaning they are connected with primal energy.

Frog tells us now is a good time for new starts. We have matured from the polliwog stage to the adult stage. We will bring that maturity with us on our new beginnings, new projects.

Frogs are keenly aware of sound, and water, their element is a conductor of sound. We are reminded to pay attention to what we hear, and to pay attention to our emotions. When Frog hops on the scene, it’s time to really experience and feel your emotions. If that means crying, that’s OK. Crying helps us clear out emotional toxicity.

Questions to ask when Frog appears:

What opportunities am I disregarding?

Are my emotions hold me back, perhaps holding me hostage?

Is it time to hop forward to a new way of being?

Thank you Frog, for hopping into our lives this week, being our teacher and guide. For this we are grateful.

After compiling information on over 1500 horses, Tellington-Jones says by studying a horse’s physical attributes, it is possible to gain insight into their personality.

It makes for very interesting reading, but the proof is in the pudding. I took this book to the barn and began comparing the barn horses with the information she provides in the book. On the whole, I found her observations to be accurate.

With this book, you have the tool to learn about your horse in yet a different way, giving you the opportunity to deepen and renew your relationship yet again! You can purchase the book now.
