Talk2theAnimals Animal of the Week

by Janet on June 7, 2010

Hear that calling: ‘jaay-jaay’? That’s because Blue Jay is the animal of the week here at Talk2theAnimals, and Blue Jay is calling for your attention.  Blue Jay is related to Crow, so he’s not shy when he wants you to pay attention to him.

Blue Jay connects the Sky, represented by his blue color, the Heavens, represented by the white, and Earth, represented by the black on his feathers.  Blue Jay reminds us we are able to connect with Sky, Heaven and Earth if we desire.  One way to do this is by integrating spiritual practices in our everyday, mundane, physical world.

Because, like Blue Jay, we can connect to both the spiritual and physical, we need to be aware of not becoming too scattered, but staying focused on what is at hand.  We need to be aware when ‘Shiny Object Syndrome’ begins to creep into our lives.

Blue Jay is fearless and has no qualms about harassing and/or driving hawks and owls away.  We can call on Blue Jay’s courage when needed.

Questions to ask when Blue Jay appears:

  • Where am I too scattered/distracted?
  • What areas would be beneficial for me to explore more deeply?
  • What fears do I have?

Thank you, Blue Jay, for coming forward and calling out your wisdom.  You have much to teach, we have much to learn from you if we only open our senses.  For this we are grateful.

Harmony

A happy and abundant Monday to you! Why did I bring up abundance? It wasn’t me, it was Buffalo. Buffalo is this week’s animal of the week and reminds us we are able to bring forth abundance when we are aligned and balanced with ourselves. Buffalo helps us to remember life is plentiful. We often [...]

We’ve changed seasons, going from winter to spring.  Transformation is in the air, and transformation is a key characteristic of Salamander.  Transformation and change.  Two things we humans are not necessarily good at accepting. Salamander needs to be in or near water, and their moist skin makes them slippery.  Don’t be surprised if you find [...]

Spider is our teacher and guide this week.  She helps us with intuition and the weaving of our fates, and helps us become aware of our creative energies. On a personal note, I do have to admit that ever since reading Charlotte’s Web when I was a child, I have been partial to spiders, and [...]

A time of new adventures, a time of passion and power.  That’s what Tiger brings to us this week. Tiger teaches us to be focused and patient.  Be dedicated and persistent with your goal, with your plans, whatever they may be. Move slowly and silently toward your goal, stopping to observe as necessary. As you [...]

Muskrat came forth to help us this week. Muskrat is a large, aquatic rodent with a thin, long, nearly hairless tail. They are talented water creatures, being able to swim up to three miles an hour and being able to swim backwards. With spring in the air, Muskrat reminds us to do spring cleaning.  Get [...]

Mongoose has shown up this week to share his wisdom with us. You might remember Mongoose as a main character in Kipling’s short story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Mongoose reminds us to stand strong and defend ourselves when necessary.  When we need to defend ourselves, Mongoose asks us to do it with absolute courage, integrity and openness.  When [...]

Fox has come forth this week to help us.  Fox brings with him blessings and magic, an invitation to use our intuition and to trust our intuition. Fox is most active at night, but generally chooses to present himself to us during the dawn or dusk hours.  Fox invites us to blend in with the [...]

True confession – sometimes I get just gosh darn giggly happy when a certain animal appears in my life.  And that’s the way it is for me when Crow appears. My neighborhood is filled with crows and I can’t help but wonder if I moved here because of the crows that were already here, or [...]
