Talk2theAnimals~Good Reads!
Looking to build your own library about animals and animal communication? Below are some books that are a must in any library.
- Section I: Books I simply can’t live without – I might even have multiple copies of these books
- Section II: Books that are written or recommended by guests who have appeared on Talk2theAnimalsRadio
Other than by sections, these books are not listed in any particular order, simply as they come to my mind. I am a bookaholic, so this page will always be a work in progress, in a state of incomplete.
Of course these books are available to purchase. To do so, simply click on the book or link. When possible, I’ve also included a Kindle edition.
Enjoy!

Section I: Books I simply can’t live without – I might even have multiple copies of these books……..
Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small This book is probably the foundational resource of all my books about animals and animal communication. Even though I refer to it constantly, I am always learning new things about the animals and how they speak to us. Both easy to read and understand, this book can be used as a tool in self discovery, learning how the animals are guiding and teaching us, and/or as containing practical information about the animals, such as their habitats, habits, etc. Andrews also included the mythology and folklore of the animals. Kindle edition.
The Animal Wise Tarot This is actually a tarot card deck, with the book used to help discern the information contained in the reading. The cards are quite detailed, especially resonating with those who are connected with animals or views the world through shamanistic eyes. In this deck, the Four-Leggeds (land mammals) are pentacles, Winged Ones (birds) are swords, Shapeshifters (insects and arachnids) are cups and Ancients (reptiles and salamanders) are wands.
Animal Spirit Guides, Steven D. Farmer This is another must have reference book for your animal communication library, a nice complement to Ted Andrews’ books. Part I of the book is the animal spirit guides. Arranged alphabetically, this book is set up in list form. For each animal, there is a section that described what it means if the animal shows up, another section telling you when to call on that animal for help and the final section tells what to expect if that animal is your power animal. Part II of the book tells you whom to call on for specific needs. At the end is a guided meditation. Kindle edition.
Secret Animal Business Shaman, author, film maker and animal communicator has written a tremendous book about animals and connecting with them. She teaches that connecting with the animals is a necessary step we humans need to take at this point in our development. It is time for us to be conscious of them as fellow sentient beings, and to be aware they are our guides and teachers. Billie stresses the importance of our languaging around animals. We don’t ‘own’ them – how can we own another creature? Using the word ‘pet’ denotes an unequal relationship. Simply shifting our language around animals shifts our relationship. My favorite way to read this book is to arbitrarily open it to a page and just dive in! Billie has been a guest on Talk2theAnimalsRadio. Listen to her episode ‘Shaman Billie Dean Explains the New Shamanism‘.
Angel Horses: Divine Messengers of Hope This books is very special to my heart – it tells the story how my horse Shiloh and I got together. Angel Animals authors Linda and Allen Anderson were holding a contest, Shiloh said he wanted to enter it. We did, and the rest is history. Linda and Allen have been a guest on Talk2theAnimalsRadio. Listen to their episode Angel Animals. You will see more of their books listed below.

Thanks Janet for the article. We actually got here because of the image you used for illustration (puppy reading a book), but found the content interesting as well. Have to note that not only whales are capable of communicating telepathically; few years ago a friend of ours did a research on animals with ESP and came to realize that many species have such ability – obviously, dogs and cats are included. Anyways, take care and have a great day
