The Animal/Human Bond

The Animal/Human Bond

The Animal/Human Bond

I’ve been thinking a lot about our relationship with animals lately, delving into new thoughts and ideas about how to be in relationship with them and why a relationship with animals is so important. This information is coming to me not only from the animals and other humans, but from the plants and trees (more about that interesting process later).

Recently colleague Bonnie Weimer Poirier posted on her Facebook page: “So far this morning, I have had quite a few very violent, very graphic photos of animals appear on my wall. I am an animal advocate – those photos do not make me more of an advocate. I’m not sure why folks post these photos. Please re-consider the message that you are sending to others when you post these photos. Instead of focusing on the graphic, let’s focus instead on creating a better world for them – focus on the folks who are speaking on their behalf – focus on the animals who are helping humans fulfill their lives. If we keep focusing on the negative, that’s what we will get. Let’s focus on the positive and uplifting. And in interviewing Elaine Downs and Sue Reid for the episode Awakening to Animals: Equality for All Life on Talk2theAnimalsRadio, they said, “A lot of people still believe that resisting something that they don’t like is the way to change it.  We are trying to share with the community that the most powerful way to create change is to focus on what you want, take guided action towards it and to raise awareness by sharing truth with others in a positive and loving way. ”

We humans are so very late in getting on the animal/human relationship bandwagon. Time for us to change and to do what we need to do to make that change. Change starts with us, not ‘the other’. We need to be gentle with ourselves as we make those changes, and the only one who needs to give us permission to change, is our very own self. After all, We All Do Better When ALL Creatures Do Better.

Won’t it be a lovely world when there will no longer be violent, graphic photos of animals appearing on Facebook walls, sensitive people won’t be crying because of the pain they feel as animals are led to slaughter and there is no longer a need for animal advocacy?

What will YOU do in the next 5 minutes to contribute to that change? And then in the next 5, the next 5………

Harmony,

Janet Roper

Howdy! I know this is kind of off-topic however I had to ask.
Does operating a well-established blog like yours take
a massive amount work? I’m brand new to blogging however I do write in my journal everyday. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and
feelings online. Please let me know if you have any recommendations or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.
    Appreciate it!

Hi Springer Spaniels, blogging does take commitment and consistency, but mostly a love for your topic! If you’re already writing in your journal daily, sounds like blogging could be the next step. BlogPaws might be a good resource for you. Good luck with that!
