It has been brought to my attention that everyone may not be familiar with what Twitter is and how it works, let alone how the Twarty works. Here’s the lowdown for those who aren’t quite sure:
If you don’t know how Twitter works, start reading here. If you want to know how the Twarty works, scroll down to the bold print. If you’re not already signed up at Twitter, go to www.Twitter.com and click on “Sign up now.”
This will take you to a page that says “Join the Conversation.”
- Fill in your full name.
- Fill in your User name. The user name will be your twitter “handle.” For instance, mine is “janetroper.” I use that because I want people to know me.
- Pick a password (remember your user name and password, as you will need these to sign into twitter again).
- Enter your email.
- If you want to see email updates from Twitter, click the box.
- Type the words you see into the box.
- Click on “Create my account.”
Once you are signed in, you are free to start “tweeting,” which is what creating a post is called in Twitter.
On the page, you will see a box that says “What are you doing?” This is where your tweet (post) will go.
To create a tweet, just start typing about what has your attention at the moment. Each tweet needs to be 140 characters or less, so keep it short and sweet!
For the Twarty, you will need to “address” your tweet to me, to make sure that I see it. My twitter “address” is @janetroper
The hashtag #T2TA is double assurance that I will see your tweet and therefore be able to answer your question(s).
So, a tweet for the Twarty may look like:
@janetroper Do I have to be psychic to talk to the animals? #T2TA
This includes my address, your question, and the double assurance that I will see your tweet – in less than 140 characters!
Because you have specifically addressed a question to me, at the Twarty I will specifically reply to you. While I will specifically reply to you on your question, anyone who is following you, me or #T2TA will be able to follow our conversation. My response might look like:
@joeanyone you do not need to be psychic to Talk2theAnimals-all can do this #T2TA
I hope this is helpful for anyone who doesn’t quite understand the way Twitter or the Twarty works. See you at the Twarty!
Harmony,
Janet Roper
