Welcome – How to Use This Blog

welcome mat
Welcome to the animal communication blog Talk2theAnimals.net, a place where U2CanTalktotheAnimals! Many of you are familiar with blogs and blogging so most of this won’t be new to you. For those who are not familiar with blogs or are a first time visitor to Talk2theAnimals.net, Welcome!, and read on for a guided tour of the blog. And many thanks to Aaron at Five Technology Blog who suggested writing a welcoming post!

Why I started the blog

I initially started the blog as a way to drive traffic to my website. My first post was 2/19/08 and talked about the “No-Pet” Pet Parties I offer. Since that first post I discovered the joy of blogging, and now I blog for fun, to connect with wonderful people who share my passion for animal communication and animals, and yes, I still blog to drive traffic to my soon-to-be-revamped-website!

How to use the blog

Talk2theAnimals.net is designed to be a place to gather and disperse information on animal communication and animals. The right hand side of the page is the ‘power place’ to access this information. There you will see:

  • Search button: If you have a specific word or term you would like to research, type it in the box and hit search. All postings with that word will then be displayed for your perusal.
  • Pages: Click on the ‘about’ and you will learn about me, read the story of how I became an animal communicator, and meet my four legged family.
  • Archives: Here you are able to access all posts for that month. Keep in mind that the newest post is at the top of the page, with the older posts listed chronologically below.
  • Categories: Posts are grouped by subject, so by clicking on the category of your choice, you will be able to explore all posts in that area.
  • Resources: This is a listing of blogs that I enjoy reading and connecting with.
  • Recent Visitors and Recent Readers: A sampling of people who have visited Talk2theAnimals.net. If you are interested in finding out more about these folks, click on their name.
  • www.flickr.com: Check out the pictures from the 2007 American Music Awards Celebrity Gift Mart!
  • Animal of the Day: A fun place to go to learn more about animals.
  • Proud member of Talk2theAnimals: Click here to visit the Talk2theAnimals Meetup group, a place where those interested in animal communication can get together either physically (we meet at Dunn Brothers in Excelsior, MN) or virtually at the Meetup page.
  • Technorati Top Tags: Should you find any of these topics of interest, click to learn more.

Blog Friendly Tips

  • To read the earliest post on a topic, start at the bottom of the page and work your way up to the latest post.
  • When you roll your mouse over a word or a phrase and it changes colors, that means that by clicking on that word or phrase you will be taken to another page (either in the blog or away from the blog) to learn more.

How to subscribe

I post daily to my blog at differing times, so to save you from checking back for the latest post, you can simply click on the ’subscribe in a reader’ button and you will be taken to a page where you can subscribe to have the latest posting delivered directly to you through your choice of a web-based news reader.

How to get involved

A fun way to get involved is by leaving comments and creating a conversation. At the end of the post you will find either ‘comments’ or ‘no comments’. Click on either of these to leave a comment. If you see the ‘no comments’, that means you will be the first to leave a comment. Yeah!
Even if you’re not in the Excelsior, MN area, you can connect through the Talk2theAnimals Meetup group. Here there is a message board, and I will be posting news from the meetings. Who knows? If you’re out of the MN area and there’s enough people who want to participate in Talk2theAnimals Meetup, we might have to bring the Meetup to you!

Where to start

The joy of a blog is you can start anywhere you desire. For those new to blogs, you may want to consider exploring the categories as a summary of what’s offered. Or, just dive in and go. Either way works perfectly fine!
I hope you found this introductory guided tour helpful, and that it gave you some ideas for exploring the blog. I look forward to hearing from you through your comments!
Harmony,
Janet Roper
